Weight Loss with Cinnamon


The use of cinnamon dates back to the ancient times. It is an evergreen tea that is cultivated in Egypt, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India. Cinnamon can be had in two ways. The bark of the tree is dried and then rolled in small sticks or it is crushed and then powdered. Oil extracted from the bark of the cinnamon has a substance called cinnamaldehyde, which imparts the unique flavor and smell in cinnamon. Cinnamon is also known to be a highly effective anti-oxidant much higher than the other foods known for their anti-oxidant properties like pomegranate or blueberries. One teaspoon of cinnamon contains more anti-oxidants than a full cup of pomegranate or half a cup of blueberries.

Taking cinnamon powder along with your food or drinking cinnamon tea can be an excellent way for you to control your excess fat. Cinnamon is widely used in our food during the winter season because it adds warmth to our body. Cinnamon also decreases the blood sugar levels which increasing the level of insulin. The increase in insulin levels destroys the fat cells of our body. Experts feel that the regular consumption of cinnamon tea is particularly effective in reducing body fat amongst diabetes patients since an increase in insulin levels will help in reducing their blood sugar levels.  Cinnamon tea is especially effective in controlling belly fat or abdominal fat since the large circulation of blood vessels in the abdominal regions helps in breaking down the fat cells which are situated so close to our digestive organs.


The recommended dosage of physicians is ½ to ¾ teaspoon of cinnamon every day.  Here is what you need to do to make an excellent cinnamon tea:- Add one teaspoon of cinnamon powder to your tea and boil for 15-20 minutes. Then add one teaspoon of honey after the tea is kept for 30 minutes so that the medicinal qualities of honey do not get destroyed. Try taking this cinnamon tea as the first thing in the morning.
